Our coaches are highly trained, published, professional writing consultants dedicated to helping you develop your skills and produce excellent work in volume, focusing on long-term growth.
Our writing coaching service is suitable for anyone in need of professional, creative, or academic writing help online; we have experience designing targeted interventions for clients with immediate, well-defined objectives, and we're also comfortable providing ongoing support to clients with longer-term projects or open-ended goals.

Coaching costs $140 per hour. We offer flexible scheduling to meet your needs, including weekly or biweekly sessions.
All sessions are conducted online via Zoom, using shared digital documents for real-time collaboration.
After each session, your coach will send an electronic invoice to your email inbox via our primary payment platform. We operate on a pay-as-you-go basis, so you will only pay for sessions as they occur (unless you specifically request to purchase a certain number in advance).

Manuscript & Developmental Editing Services
Our professional book editors will polish your manuscript or draft until it shines. We provide thorough, publication-quality edits, ensuring your document meets the highest literary or technical standards.what's included +

For works in progress, we offer developmental editing focused on big-picture improvements to the content and organization of your work, targeting areas like narrative structure, plot, or character development.

Our manuscript editing services are priced per word, with rates ranging from 15¢ to 25¢ per word depending on the level of editing required. Here’s a breakdown of the process:
- Intake Meeting: $140 flat rate for a one-hour meeting where you and your editor discuss your manuscript and the appropriate level of editing.
- Complimentary Sample Edit: Free of charge, you'll receive a 1000-word sample edit to help you decide if the editor is right for your project.
- Full Manuscript Editing: 15¢, 20¢, or 25¢ per word for a full revision of your manuscript.
- Optional Check-Ins: $140 per hour for optional meetings with your editor as they work through your manuscript, recommended every 10–15 pages of editing.
All live meetings are conducted online via Zoom, using shared digital documents for real-time collaboration.

Manuscript Consultations
Hire an online editor and writing coach to review your latest draft. We consult with writers at all levels of experience across a wide variety of genres, delivering thorough, actionable feedback tailored to your needs.what's included +
Our manuscript consultation service is a two-part process that provides in-depth feedback on your writing at a lower cost than a full manuscript edit. Here's how it works:
First, your coach will read your manuscript, offering an option for light editorial notes (reading "with mark-up") or reading without notes ("without mark-up). Either way, you'll receive a 600- to 800-word editorial letter summarizing your coach’s feedback, covering key areas for improvement.
The second part of our manuscript consultation service is a live video meeting, wherein your coach will present their feedback and offer personalized guidance on implementing changes. After that first live meeting, you are welcome to schedule more consultations as needed to reach your goals.

- Reading with Mark-up: 4¢ per word for prose manuscripts, $15 per page for poetry. Includes light editorial notes in your document and a detailed editorial letter.
- Reading without Mark-up: 2¢ per word for prose manuscripts, $7.50 per page for poetry. Includes an editorial letter but no in-text notes.
- Live Consultation: After they've read your manuscript and provided an editorial letter, meet with your assigned writing coach live on video to discuss their feedback and develop strategies for improving your work. This meeting is billed at our standard coaching rate of $140 per hour.

To begin, schedule a free 15-minute intake call with one of our Enrollment Managers. During this call, we’ll learn more about your manuscript in order to match you with the right writing coach for the job.
Once we've assigned you a coach, they will reach out via text and email to agree on a timeline for reading your manuscript and preparing their editorial letter (before your live consultation).
You can schedule your manuscript consultation (including the reading and live meeting portions of the service) all at once or in phases, depending on the length and complexity of your manuscript.

Our Writing Rooms offer a structured, supportive space for writers to work on their craft. For $20/month, you gain unlimited access to a weekly, hour-long virtual meeting, hosted on Zoom by a member of our writing coaching faculty. These sessions are designed to boost productivity, provide accountability, and encourage thoughtful engagement with writing. Whether you’re working on a novel, essay, or creative project, our Writing Rooms provide the time and space to get consistent work done, all while connecting with a community of like-minded writers.

- Unlimited access to one weekly Writing Room meeting of your choice.
- Calendar invites and Zoom links delivered to your inbox each week.
- Flexibility to cancel at any time with no additional cost.
Your subscription auto-renews monthly, but billing won't begin until the first meeting in November 2024. Writing Rooms are open to anyone over 21, and you don’t have to be a private client of the Gilliam Writers Group to join.
